AR organises Yoga, community engagement event

As a precursor to International Yoga Day, Assam Rifles organised an event at Tuikhang Aimol village, Kangpokpi district on Sunday to improve physical fitness, mental well-being, and spiritual harmony among the residents.
The event began early in the morning at the village community ground, drawing a large crowd of villagers, including men, women, and children of all ages, eager to learn and practice various yoga postures and techniques, PRO IGAR (S) said in a release, adding that professional yoga instructor emphasised the importance of regular yoga practice in enhancing physical flexibility, strength, and endurance, while also offering mental relaxation and clarity.
Special attention was given to beginners, with simplified versions of the asanas being demonstrated to accommodate all levels of fitness and experience, the release further said.
Assam Rifles also recently organised a series of community engagement events in Kamjong district, along the In-do-Myanmar border at Kamjong Baptist Church, where the company commander participated in a prayer service with local residents and engaged in meaningful discussions with the community members.
Around 250 men, women, and children attended the event.
Similar events were also organised by forward-deployed Company Operating Bases at Phaikoh, Nampisha, Kamtong, Kongkhan, and Aishi.
In Moreh, Assam Rifles saved one Paoboi, 19, of B Bongjang village, who was bitten by a snake on the midnight of May 31, by swiftly evacuated him to the battalion's medical inspection room, where he received first aid and anti-venom treatment.
After careful observation, Paoboi was discharged the next day with no signs of infection, the PRO informed.
