Indian Army dedicates computer training centre

Imphal, July 19 2025: In a significant step towards rural empowerment through education and digital inclusion, Indian Army inaugurated a state-of-the-art computer training centre at Lamging Meira Maheikol School, Saiton village, under its flagship civic action initiative, Operation Sadbhavana.

As per a release, the newly-established centre is comprehensively equipped with computers, projectors, printers and other essential infrastructure, aiming to advance digital literacy among local youth and equip them with vital IT skills to enhance future employment prospects.

The training facility, affiliated with the All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT), will offer an array of educational programmes including a three-month Certificate in Computer Concept (CCC), a six-month Certificate in Computer Application (CCA) and a twelve-month Diploma in Computer Application (DCA), designed to provide students with a thorough grounding in digital skills and modern technology, it informed.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior army officials, members of the school management committee, Saiton Gram Panchayat caretaker pradhan Ibomcha and ward members from Saiton, Awang Lekh'ai and Heiyaikon villages, village chiefs, teachers and parents.

Over the past two years, Indian Army has established eleven such centres across Manipur, with seven more scheduled to be launched within the current financial year, the release added.
