Assam Rifles organise wreath-laying ceremony

Imphal, January 13 2025: The Assam Rifles organised a wreath-laying ceremony at its battalion headquarters in Tengnoupal district on Sunday, to honour the valiant sacrifice of lance naik Kameshwar Ram, a hero of Operation Rakshak.

According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), on January 12,1997, Kameshwar displayed exceptional bravery while countering militants in the Soura area of Srinagar under the leadership of Major RS Rangi.

In a fierce encounter, he fearlessly used his Light Machine Gun (LMG) to inflict heavy fire on the militants, halting their advance.

During this heroic act, he succumbed to injuries sustained during the operation.

Two Officers, 19 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 56 jawans paid their respects to this courageous soldier, acknowledging his ultimate sacrifice, the statement added.
