Students sensitised on food safety norms

Imphal, August 01 2025: Food Safety Administration, Chandel, in collaboration with the State Food Testing Laboratory, Lamphelpat, conducted an awareness programme on food fortification, good hygiene and sanitary practices at St Peter Higher Secondary School, Monsang Pantha in Chandel district on Friday.

The programme led by food analyst Ch Sanajaoba had the participation of students from classes XI and XII.

During the interactive session, students were sensitised on the importance of examining food labels for better understanding of food products and be informed and alert consumers.

As part of the programme, a demonstration of basic tests to detect common food adulterants was also conducted, providing students with practical knowledge of identifying unsafe food items.

Officials said the initiative was aimed at encouraging healthy food habits among young students and promoting awareness on food safety standards.
