Governor designate arrives

Imphal, July 30 2024: Governor designate Lakshman Prasad Acharya arrived here today.

A reception programme was organised at the Raj Bhavan where he was accorded a warm welcome by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata Singh, Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh and senior officers.

Rashtriya Salute was accorded by personnel of Manipur Rifles and India Reserve Battalion.

Swearing-in ceremony of the new Governor will be held tomorrow at 9.30 am at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan.

Earlier, Governor designate Lakshman Prasad Acharya landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal.

On his arrival at the airport, he was accorded a warm welcome by high ranking civil and police officers led by the Chief Secretary and the DGP.

Later, the Chief Minister, the Speaker, Ministers and MLAs called on outgoing Governor Anusuiya Uikey at the Raj Bhavan.

The Chief Minister thanked the outgoing Governor for her role and contributions as the Constitutional head of the State during her short term in Manipur as the Governor of the State.

The Chief Minister also lauded her efforts towards restoration of peace and normalcy in the State.

He wished Anusuiya Uikey a long and healthy life.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey expressed her appreciation to the Chief Minister and his Ministers for their cooperation and support during her tenure.
