Imphal, August 29 2010: The new building of Kanglatongbi Hindi Secondary school, constructed under the Special Plan Assistance funding has been inaugurated today by the Education Minister L Jayentakumar.

With the addition of the new block the School has in total 10 classrooms and would facilitate computer lesson and practical experiments.

apart from the new School building construction of staff quarters and toilets have also been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore.

It is said that Kanglatongbi Hindi Secondary School has one of the highest enrolment of students among the Government-run educational institutions in the State with students from not only Kanglatongbi but also from various pockets of Sadar Hills studying at the said school.

From an ordinary existence since establishment, the Kanglatongbi institution has transformed significantly both in terms of infrastructural expansion and students' strength due to Government patronage in about the past four years.

After Government approval recently the School has come under the ambit of Zonal Education Officer, Zone-I .

As apart of the inauguration programme the Education Minister also distributed study materials under the provision of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

With apparent reference to provision of computer and science materials on the earlier occasion, L Jayentakumar called upon the teachers to utilise available infrastructure and materials purposefully so that eagerness of the students to experience educational advancement do not diminish.

Highlighting that educational scenario in the country has changed on a tremendous scale, the Minister explained that under the Government of india's policy to gaurantee education of its younger generation the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act has been framed under whose provision deprivation of education could be complained to a court of law.

He also pointed out that under a specific policy called Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RAMSA) the Human Resource Development Ministry allocates an annual amount of Rs 65,000 to every school for which an account of School Management Committee has to be opened to avail the financial assistance.

Moreover, under the same policy the Union Ministry will soon be providing necessary fund for infrastructural development, confided Jayentakumar while stressing that teachers need to serve with dedication and commitment to ensure that the students reap benefits of such schemes.

Appealing for public support and participation in welfare programmes being schemed and implemented by the Govt, the Minister further informed that on a trial basis tele-education would be implemented in five select Govt schools.

The same programme would be expanded based on the result/feedback of the trial, he added.

Sekmai Assembly Constituency MLA Dr H Borajao presided the school building inauguration programme which was also attended by Commissioner (Tourism) KK Chhetry (IAS), Directorate of Education's Additional Director (Valley) CP Paudyal and OSD L Iboyaima as the guests of honour.

in recognition of their contributions toward development of the School, Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat's Pradhan Krishna Bahadur Katwal and headmaster (retired) of Kanglatongbi Hindi Secondary School S kumar were honoured with presentation of simple gifts.
