Imphal, August 28 2024: Womenfolk of Awang Leikinthabi have appealed to all concerned to hand over the weapons which were seized from VDF personnel guarding their village.

It is reported that a group of heavily armed miscreants overpowered the VDF personnel who were posted at the farm house of Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan and went away with the service guns yesterday.

Addressing a press briefing in this regard at Awang Leikinthabi Community Hall, member of Awang Leikinthabi Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Ashangbam Angela said that the miscreants took four guns from the VDF personnel last night at around 7.15 and the same was very unfortunate.

Saying that the people of Awang Leikhinthabi condemn the incident in the strongest term, she appealed to the group and individuals concerned to return the guns.

Further stating that the house guards of the MLA have been stationing at their locality given the frequent attacks by Kuki militants, she said that it is the MLA himself who brought his house guards to their locality to protect them.
