Lamka, November 27: Only a few people, if any would live to see their great-great grand children in a country where the life expectancy is 64; however a resident of Sahei Road, New Lamka has done just that.

Khawlkhoting, born at an interior village called Umtal in the year 1900 today lives at the residence of her youngest son, Lalngaihlian in his New Lamka residence under the care of her great grand children.

Married to (L) Nenggin, she has eight children of whom two have passed away.

She has 50 grand children, twenty four male and twenty six female from her eight children.

Her grand children too have forty two male and thirty five female children and as if that was not enough, the oldest recorded living person in the State has had the privilege of seeing her eight male and two female great-great grand children.

The descendants of Khawlkhoting have touched the 145 mark, yet she can still walk with the help of a walking stick and despite the fact that her sight and hearing has deteriorated, she can still see and easily hold coherent conversation with her brood.

Talking to this correspondent her son Lalngaihlian, who shoulders the responsibility of attending to the oldest living person and most probably a record breaking individual in the State said, there wasn�t much problem in nursing her till today.

He nevertheless claimed that milk and eggs were an essential ingredients in her daily diet.

While visiting the aged woman she earnestly asked this correspondent why people were so interested in her age and health.

Migrating to the Khuga Valley from a remote Bualtang village in 1950, she has even drawn the attention of the State Election Commission as they have dispatched an official delegate to confirm her existence on Saturday.

The official delegation which the family members claimed was led by an SDC even took the photograph of the 106 years old lady.
