Imphal, April 27 2011: Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has appealed against creating any sort of disturbance in the process of electing their respective representatives by the people in the upcoming General election to the State Assembly.

Addressing a district level training programme on flagship programmes and other schemes organised by Chandel District Congress Committee at Khangshim village community hall today, Ibobi said that instead of creating disturbance, even the UGs should come out to help the people in electing their representatives.

People of Manipur would get their demand for peace and due rights without interference from any organisations.

So, instead of creating disturbance, people should be allowed to live in peace and causing disturbance should also be stopped in the upcoming 10th General election to Manipur State Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister remarked.

The Chief Minister went on to say that UG groups can come out to do service for the people.

There is nothing wrong in allowing the people to choose their own representatives and let the elected representatives taking up developmental works for the people.

Any Minister or MLA who have not perform their duties should not be given vote in the next election and only those who would be able to carry out their responsibility right from the grassroots level and ensure peace in the society should be elected.

Endorsing the demand for 33 percent reservation of seats for women in State Assemblies and Parliament, the Chief Minister pointed out that women have excelled in various fields like medicine, administration, etc and emerge toppers in most examinations.

Ridiculing the claim of other political parties to form the next Government, the Chief Minister said that there is no political party in Manipur with exemption to the Congress party which can ensure a stable Government.

BJP was not free from flaws when it was in power, he added.

Appealing to the people of Chandel and Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency to extend their support to the Congress in the upcoming General election, the Chief Minister asserted that Congress has no discrimination against any community in Manipur.

On the flagship programmes of the UPA Government, the Chief Minister said that most of these programmes support the BPL families and in case of denial of the benefit, the matter should be reported.

MPCC president Gaikhangam reiterated that Congress party is for the integrity of Manipur and unity of its people, both in the hills and the valley.

He explained that the training programme on the flagship programmes is being organised to facilitate discussion among the people on whether the promises made by the Congress party before the election have been kept or not.

If there is anything that the party has overlooked, it would be given immediate attention, he assured.

General secretary in-charge of Chandel District Congress Committee MLA K Meghachandra, MLA Manga Vaiphei, ex-Minister DK Korungthang, ex-Minister Francis Ngajokpa, etc were also present at the occasion.
