Ukhrul, March 26 2026:
Zingsho Katamnao Long (ZKL), the apex student body of Eastern Tangkhul region, has imposed an indefinite trade embargo on the Kukis of Chassad village in Kamjong with effect from 5 pm of March 26 .
Perturbed by the "barbaric act of frequent gun firing in Kamjong headquarters", ZKL was reportedly compelled to take this step.
According to a press release issued by the ZKL, the student body had earlier demanded the Chassad Youth Club (CYC) to withdraw their "manipulated press statement" issued on March 24 and tender an unconditional apology within 24 hours to the Tangkhul Naga community.
In their statement, CYC had asserted that the firing incident of March 23 in Chassad-Kamjong area was carried out by Tangkhul militants.
ZKL had rejected the "fabricated statement", calling it a direct affront to the Tangkhul Naga community, and unacceptable under any circumstances.
As CYC failed to respond to ZKL's demand for a withdrawal of the press release and an unconditional apology within the stipulated time, ZKL has declared an indefinite economic embargo against the Kukis of Chassad village.
ZKL has further cautioned that any individual or group defying this directive will invite stringent punitive action from the organization.
