Imphal, September 25 2026: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has decided to support and strengthen United Naga Council's ongoing economic blockade.

This decision was taken denouncing the Government's lackadaisical attitude and failure to address the demands raised by the UNC for justice of six Liangmai Naga men who were killed after being abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village in May, said the COCOMI in a statement.

Apart from condemning the brutal killings, the Government has not taken any concrete measures to deliver justice for the victims and prevent further "terrorist" attacks on the indigenous people, it said.

On September 20 recently, COCOMI had urged the Government to consider the UNC's demands and bring about a resolution.

However, the Government has taken no action.

Awaiting justice, the remains of the six Liangmai Naga victims are still lying in the mortuary at JNIMS Hospital, COCOMI added.

More than three years after the conflict first erupted in May 2023, indigenous people are still being targeted and killed in attacks by terrorists and their houses and properties are being destroyed.

Yet, the Government is only seen condemning the attacks and not taking any steps to prevent, it said.

Denouncing the Government's failure to address the issues including the demands being raised by the UNC, COCOMI has decided to support and strengthen the council's economic blockade, it added.
