Kangpokpi, May 25 2026:
The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), along with Kuki-Zo civil society organisations, on Monday announced that the ongoing total shutdown across all Kuki-Zo inhabited areas would be extended indefinitely from midnight of May 25 .
After a Joint Council Meeting held at Kangpokpi, KIM declared that the shutdown would continue indefinitely until the perpetrators involved in the killings of three Thadou Church leaders are "thoroughly investigated, identified, and brought to justice," and all Kuki-Zo hostages are released.
The organisation accused the Government of maintaining "continued silence, indifference, and inaction" despite twelve consecutive days of public shutdowns, democratic protests, and repeated appeals for justice.
Calling the Government's response a "serious affront to the collective pain, suffering, and dignity of the people," the Joint Council warned that the democratic agitation could escalate further if authorities continue to remain indifferent to the demands of the Kuki-Zo people.
