Moirang, May 25 2025:
Govindas Konthoujam, former Minister and Bishnupur AC MLA, has said that uniting Manipur's 60 legislators would be effortless if civil society organisations (CSOs) work together for the State's welfare, putting aside their differences.
Addressing an inauguration ceremony of the new building of Youth Welfare Organisation (YWO), a joint club of Bishnupur Municipal Council Ward no 5 and 6 today, Govindas pointed out that CSOs are unable to work together due to differing interests despite public demand for unity among MLAs.
He said that CSOs must unite before expecting MLAs to do so, given the CSOs' diverse views and interests.
The event also marked the 50th foundation day (golden jubilee ceremony) of YWO.
Govindas said that people should prioritize becoming decent themselves first before demanding the same from others.
He, meanwhile, said that having a club would be pointless if people, especially youth, don't discuss development work and pressing State issues.
Regarding the Central forces blocking farmers' access to their fields at Thinungei, Govindas said they are working with relevant authorities to resolve the issue and allow farmers to resume agricultural work.
Bishnupur SP Ksh Ravikumar, Councillor of Bishnupur Ward no 6 W Radhe, Councillor of Bishnupur Ward no 5 Th Indramani, Head of Earth Science Department of Manipur University S Ibotombi and YWO president N Ingocha also attended the programme among others.
