Imphal, May 25: Alleging that newly arrived air service provider Air Deccan has been indulging in �day light robbery� from passengers and flouting norms laid down by the public carrier itself, the Consumers� Club, manipur said legal action would be initiated against Air Deccan.

Identifying the ticketing agencies of Air Deccan as those located at Airport, Thangal Bazar (Goodwill Travels), Nirmala Hotel (Haokip Travels), and Thangal Bazar�s Yatra Agency and Thangjam Travels, the Club in a release issued today said legal actions would be processed in case these agencies do not clarify their positions on the matter. Listing anomalies of these agencies, the Club said numerous complaints have been received regarding rejection of proposal by passengers concerned to change travelling schedules well ahead of the stipulated hour, promptly handing over tickets to individuals by the Airport agency even though intention of the individuals only concerns confirming availability of ticket and denying percentage refunding of ticket charge when passengers wish to take the flight a day later than the schedule date inspite of the cancellation information being intimated a day before the scheduled flight.

Another charge levelled against the agencies concerns non refunding of ticket fare for cancelled flight inspite of the fact that the flight cancellation was caused by the air service provider themselves.

Observing that rather than serve and live upto the expectation of the general public Air Deccan�s conduct vividly reflects inefficiency and exposes sinister intention to dupe the public so as to bulge bank accounts of these agents, the Consumers� Club also contended that Air Deccan has been abusing ticket cancellation/rescheduling norms. Elaborating on the terms and conditions laid down by the air service provider to substantiate its charges, the Club quoted rules governing flight rescheduling as: �Rescheduling of the ticket is only possible upto 4 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the flight.

Therefore under such a situation, it is only possible to cancel reservation.

Rescheduling fee of Rs 200 per passenger along with the fare difference will be charged for any postponements or advancements.

Tickets booked under superflier or valueflier can be rescheduled only once per passenger per sector as per the terms and conditions under these schemes�.
