Ukhrul, May 23 2025: In the wake of the discovery of several blooming Shirui Lily plants either damaged or plucked during the ongoing state-level festival celebrating this unique flower, the Shirui Youth Club (SYC) has appealed to all tourists visiting Shirui Kashong to admire the mesmerising bloom of the state flower and to refrain from the irresponsible act of plucking or destroying the flowers.

"It is disheartening to see the damage that irresponsible tourists have inflicted on this delicate flower.

Over the past two days, numerous tourists were observed destroying the lilies," said SYC president Ningkhanrin Shangh in a statement on Friday.

On behalf of the youth club, he urged all visitors to avoid picking or uprooting lilies and other plants on the hills.

"Let us all be responsible tourists, leaving this beautiful place for everyone to enjoy.

A less greedy approach enhances everyone's experiences!" .

Shangh also cautioned that the SYC will take stringent action against any tourist found destroying or removing flower plants.
