Commendable 92.23 pass pc recorded in Class XII exams

The results of the Higher Secondary Examination 2026 (HSE 2026) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) was declared today, recording an overall pass percentage of 92.23% .
The highly anticipated HSE 2026 results were announced during an event at COHSEM auditorium in Babupara, Imphal with Education (S) Commissioner Ningthoujam Geoffrey as the chief guest.
In the Arts stream, Sarangthem Ayingbi Chanu from Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai, a student of Enlighten Knowledge (EK) Higher Secondary School, emerged as the topper with 470 marks.
Scoring a total of 456 marks, TG Higher Secondary School student Pushpa Kakchingtabam from Kongba Nandeibam Leikai secured the 2nd position while EK Higher Secondary School student Chesabam Nurmiya from Keirak Makha Leikai bagged the 3rd position with a total score of 452 .

With the same total score of 490, two students shared the first position in the Science stream.
The stellar duo are COMET School student Takhellambam Kalpana Devi from Wangoo Tera Hodam Leirak and Comprehensive Concept School student Yohen Longjam from Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai.
Pebam Taibangnganba Mangang, a student of Millennium Institute of Science from Kwakeithel Moirang Purel Leikai bagged the 2nd position (485) while COMET School student Keithellakpam Wynona Devi from Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak was placed in the 3rd position (480) .
With a score of 454, CC Higher Secondary School student Thoihenba Thongam from Kakwa Khongnangpheidekpi topped the Commerce stream.
The 2nd and 3rd positions were secured by TG Higher Secondary School student Haorongbam Keniya Chanu (433) from Matai Mayai Leikai and CC Higher Secondary School student Athokpam Deny from Top Makha Leikai (431) respectively.
A total of 31,530 students were enrolled for the exam in the Arts, Science and Commerce stream.
Out of this, 31,259 students appeared for the exam and 28,829 (92.23 %) successfully cleared it.
From the Science stream, 21,491 (93.28%) passed the exam out of 23,039 who appeared while a slightly larger number of students-23,146-were enrolled.
While 7,697 students were enrolled in the Arts stream, 6,779 (89.87%) passed HSE 2026 out of 7,543 who appeared.
559 (82.57%) students from the Commerce stream passed the HSE 2026 out of 677 who appeared while 687 students were enrolled.
The pass percentage for Government higher secondary schools stood at 86.91% while that of Non-Government colleges and higher secondary schools was much higher at 94.54%.District wise pass percentage stands at: Bishnupur-93.88%, Chandel-89.07 %, Churachandpur-84.85%, Imphal East-92.75%, Imphal West-95.43%, Jiribam-80.08%, Kakching-81.85%, Kamjong-90.76%, Kangpokpi-82.59%, Noney-98.93%, Senapati-84.62%, Tamenglong-89.12%, Tengnoupal-96.05%, Thoubal-97.65% and Ukhrul-88.63% .
The overall pass percentage in 2025 and 2024 were 94% and 97.63% respectively, showing small percentage drops over the last two years.
In 2025, 6,788 (90.12%) students cleared the exam from the Arts stream; 19,900 (95.45%) from Science stream and 487 (92.06%) from Commerce stream.
Meanwhile, in 2024, 7527 (94.35%) students passed the Higher Secondary Examination in Arts stream; 22,288 (98.91%) in Science stream and 576 (93.51%) in Commerce stream.
This year, the results of two Science stream students have been withheld.
An Arts stream student has been barred from the exam for two years (2027 and 2028) .
He/she will be permitted to sit for HSE 2029, as per the results sheet.
T Ojit, Chairman, COHSEM presided over the event while Ng Bhogendra Meitei, Director, Education (S); Kh Ashikumar, Secretary, COHSEM and O Joy, Controller of Examinations graced the event as guests of honour.
