Imphal, April 20: Besides resolving to allow the State High Court and Civil Secretariat buildings to be set up at Mantripukhri, the Cabinet has today quashed the appointment order of 43 work charge employees in the Manipur Police Housing Corporation.

The resolutions were passed during a Cabinet meeting held at the Chief Minister conference hall presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi.

Members present at the meting after a thorough discussion resolved to construct only the Assembly secretariat at the Capitol Project and construct the State High Court and Civil Secretariat buildings at Mantripukhri as construction of all the buildings inside the Capitol Complex would lead to congestion and acquiring more land for the project will not go down well with the people.

It may be noted here that process for constructing two buildings at Mantripukhri was taken after the acquiring the plots of Agriculture, Horticulture.

The total area of the acquired land is estimated to be about 111.06 acres.

During the meeting, some of the Ministers concerned aired their views on the proposed construction of the two buildings at Mantripukhri stating that it would be a wise move on the part of the State Government to look for another site as the construction of the two buildings at another site would be cheaper than constructing after dismantling the existing buildings of Agriculture, Horticulture, PWD and TB Hospital.

Despite giving a patient hearing to the opinion and suggestions of the Ministers concerned, Chief Minister O Ibobi still stuck to his stand and directed all the Ministers to take up necessary measure for shifting the buildings of the above mentioned complex at an appropriate site within the shortest possible time.

The Cabinet Minister while agreeing to dismiss the 42 work charge employees which were inducted in the Manipur Police Housing Corporation also directed to the authorities concerned to induct new employees on contract basis without flouting the rules and regulations of the Govt.
