PREPAK speaks out mind ahead of Statehood Day

Imphal, January 19 2022: The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has alleged that Kangleipak which has a history spanning over 2,000 years was never a part of India.

In a statement, the outfit said that the erstwhile kingdom, though stayed as a protectorate State for the British for some years, and regained its independence a day ahead of India on August 14, 1947 .

Alleging that Kangleipak was forcefully annexed by India on September 21, 1949 by making King Bodhachandra sign an agreement at Shillong, the statement maintained that Kangleipak was granted Statehood on January 21, 1972 after keeping it as a Part C State and Union Territory for many years.

As such, the State preparing to observe the 50th anniversary of achieving Statehood this year is a big lie to all Kangleicha (people of Kangleipak), it claimed and urged all to stand against such deception by not taking part in the observance.

Further claiming that India has been subjugating the people of small independent kingdoms which it annexed, PREPAK added that some hired scholars depicting Kangleipak as an inseparable part of 'imperialist' India is rather unfortunate.

The outfit claimed that India has constantly been devising strategies to make Kangleipak wholly dependent on them.

Alleging that Assembly and Parliamentary elections are only a tool to depict India as a democratic country, PREPAK claimed that the top positions of the State Government are all being held by outsiders or those who advocate their ideology.

"To suppress us is their intent," PREPAK claimed and alleged that 'India is also attempting to convert our culture, faith and languages gradually' .

As India is unable to colonize Kangleipak completely, they have been waging a war both directly and indirectly, the statement claimed and added that PREPAK will carry forward the freedom struggle of Kangleipak along with the people.

Claiming that the socio-economic and political significance of independent Kangleipak has been overwhelmed by India apart from making the people job seekers rather than job providers by its flawed education system, the outfit alleged that the people here seem to be blindly following the politics of India without realizing the true nature of democracy and electoral politics.

Alleging that poll-related violence has been increasing in the State, the outfit claimed that people selling their precious rights which come once every five year is nothing new in Manipur.

The outfit rued that consumption of liquor and other intoxicants at election offices is also rampant in the State.

Asking what positive changes have elections brought to the State, PREPAK expressed concern over the large gathering of people in election offices amid the spike of Covid and its variant Omicron.
