3 hurt in ambush at Imphal-Ukhrul road

Imphal, October 18 2026: Two persons were injured when unknown armed miscreants fired upon a car at an area under Litan police station, Ukhrul, said police.

The two injured are Nepalis.

The incident occurred this morning between Gwaltabi and Mahadeva along NH-202 under Litan PS, Ukhrul, said the police.

A statement of condemnation released to media by BP Vikas Basnet, ex-Executive Member Sadar Hills ADC, however said that three Gorkha civilians were hurt in the ambush.

Basnet identified the injured as Dilip Dahal (34), his wife Bipana Dahal (29), and Sandeep Budhathoki (24) .

This incident is particularly alarming as it follows the tragic killing of Sandeep Rai, a Manipuri Gorkha from Senapati district on October 10, Basnet said in his statement.

He condemned the incident in the strongest terms and called on communities to exercise restraint and hold dialogue for peace, mutual understanding and reconciliation.
