Imphal, October 18 2016:
Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang will attend a grand meeting scheduled tomorrow at Yaikhongpao village of Kangpokpi sub-division where the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM would be deliberated.
A well placed source informed that three village authority representatives each from over 800 Naga villages would attend the grand meeting.
The Nagaland Chief Minister will come by road to Yaikhongpao village and attend the meeting as the chief guest.
Each Naga village is a republic by itself and villages constitute a key element of the Naga society.
As a final solution to the vexed Indo-Naga issue is likely to be worked out shortly, it is crucial to take all Naga villages into confidence, said the source.
It is important to strengthen village administration and sensitise all Naga villages regarding the framework agreement.
Even though the grand meeting scheduled tomorrow may or may relate to the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, it is certainly a part of the greater Naga politics, added the source.
If (Naga) sovereignty figures in the Framework Agreement, it would be 'shared sovereignty' and once the Indo-Naga peace process is settled, there would be peaceful co-existence between Nagas and the Government of India.
To bring about such a situation, it is crucial to make all Nagas understand the Framework Agreement and strengthen village administration and traditional village institutions, added the source.
