Imphal, September 18 2026: The Naga People's Union Imphal (NPUI) has questioned the Government's inaction even after the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has apologised and the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has made a confession regarding the abduction of six Naga civilians from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13, 2023 and subsequently butchered in the most barbaric manner.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, NPUI president M Ngaranmi expressed resentment and anguish over the Government's failure to take action against all those people who have apologised and confessed regarding the gruesome murder.

He urged the Government to seize the weapons used in murdering the six Naga hostages and also bring out a report on the murder in the form of a white paper He asserted that the facts and circumstances of the barbaric murder can be established only after office bearers of KZC and KIM are arrested and subjected to intensive interrogation.

All KNF-P cadres who were named by eye-witnesses must be pulled up and Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen must be removed from her post.

Nagas don't believe that justice will be served as long as Nemcha Kipgen continues to hold the post of Deputy Chief Minister, M Ngaranmi said.

He urged the Government to abrogate the SoO agreement with KNF-P and declare the outfit as a terrorist organisation.

Acknowledging the support and solidarity extended by indigenous people, Meira Paibis and several CSOs in the fight for justice, he appealed for further support until justice is done.

Saying that families of the six victims have been leading an extremely traumatised and despondent life, Ngaranmi also appealed to all MLAs and MPs to help in securing justice for the victims.

The NPUI president said that they will continue with different modes of agitation until and unless the masterminds of the brutal murder are awarded capital punishment and all those involved are punished as per law.

NPUI general secretary HB Kowarhring asserted that updating the NRC in Manipur is of paramount importance.

The demand for updating the NRC is basically about protecting the rights of indigenous people and it is not directed against any individual or community, he said.

NRC is not a communal agenda, it is basically about protecting the indigenous people of Manipur, Kowarhring said.

NRC can identify illegal immigrants living in Manipur and illegal immigrants are also connected to the crisis which broke out on May 3, 2023, he asserted.

If the crisis had no connection with the illegal immigrants, it could have been solved within one year.

Updating the NRC can identify illegal immigrants and also solve the prolonged crisis, he asserted.

Every one must ponder over the possible situation of Manipur 20/30 years from now if the NRC is not updated, Kowarhring said.

Manipur had always been a peaceful State but today all the indigenous people are facing huge challenges, he said.

Saying that over 5000 illegal immigrants are present in the Sajik Tampak area, he appealed to the Government to identify and verify these illegal immigrants.

He also called upon all sections of people to support the ongoing mass movement being spearheaded by the JFD .
