Longmai Council suspends proposed mass agitation

The Villages Council Longmai Area (VCLA) has suspended its proposed mass agitation over frequent power outages in Noney after reaching some agreements with the Power Department.
The agreements were reached during a meeting held in the presence of Longmai civil society organisation leaders and engineers of MSPDCL and MSPCL.
Officials of Noney district administrations also attended the meeting.
One of the demands which VCLA had demanded was to install mini towers from Yurembam to Noney substation replacing the age-old substandard installations.
The agreements reached during the meeting were to deploy not less than 5 employees from members of communities that aren't involved in the current conflict at Noney for effective line maintenance at the 33 Kv line within 15 days.
The meeting also agreed to commission another 3.15 MVA power transformer with a total of 6.3 MVA within 15 days in addition to the present 3.15 MVA.
Process to make Reangpang�Khoupum to Thangal (Lamdangmei) power line extending to Noney, operational, shall be initiated after due consultation with the authority concerned within two weeks time was also agreed upon during the meeting.
At least 3 staff to be additionally provided at the Control Room of 33/11KV SS Noney by MSPCL.
VCLA said that they will revoke the suspension of the agitation if the relevant authorities fail to adhere to the agreements.
