Imphal, April 18 2025:
The Federation of Haomee (FoH) has asserted that the Kuki community has been scheming to either annihilate or forcibly take smaller tribes under their fold.
For several years, the Kuki community has been working continuously to wipe out the indigenous people of Manipur, said a press release issued by FoH vice president Dr K Heera Kabui.
In their efforts to assimilate and forcibly take smaller tribes which have Yek-Salai classification under their fold, the Kuki community has been publishing fabricated documents and they have even erected stone inscriptions with false claims.
Apart from sending fabricated documents to the Centre which claim that Kom, Liangmai, Purum and Kharam villages located in Kangpokpi district are Kuki villages, Kukis have been conspiring to take these small tribes into the ongoing violence, it said.
Despite repeated denial and clarifications from indigenous tribes namely; Aimol, Anal, Chiru, Chothe, Koirao, Koireng, Kom, Maring, Moyon, Monsang, Purum etc that they do not belong to the Kuki tribe, the Kuki people who allegedly have no qualms in telling lies have not stopped scheming to take these smaller tribes into their fold, the FoH said.
On the other hand, an Indigenous Pillar of 25 communities which have Yek-Salai classification is being constructed at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao and the construction work is nearly complete, it said.
A tree plantation drive would be held around the Indigenous Pillar at 10 am on April 21, 2025 and the drive would be participated by leaders of the 25 indigenous communities, VIPs and representatives of several CSOs including the Naga People's Organisation (NPO), the FoH said.
It also appealed to all the people to join the tree plantation drive.
The Indigenous Pillar would help in protecting and preserving the identity of the communities which have Yek-Salai classification, it added.
