Governor hands out Sanatombi awards

Imphal, September 15 2026:
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today, graced the Governor's Award, 2026 & RK Sanatombi Devi Awards, 2026, function held at Asha Jina Complex, North AOC in Imphal.
Bhalla presented the Governor's Award 2026, to Sushitra Ningthemchama-yum, a Class XI (Sc) student of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya.
The Governor also presented Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Awards, 2026, to the selected students and different personalities, recognising their outstanding achievements and contributions in education, teaching, teacher education, nursing, sports, social work, differently abled category, and co-curricular activities.

The awardees are Irengbam Ratna (primary teacher of Bhairodon Maxwell Hindi High School), Khwairakpam Diyara (teacher education B.Ed topper of MU), Pinky Soibam (M.Ed topper), Lairikyengbam Poda (nursing sister of JNIMS), Khwairakpam Budhinanda (different abled category), Laitonjam Lanchenba (swimmer), Chirom Joyshree (boxer), Nameirak-pam Tomchou Meetei (weightlifter), Huidrom Bhumeswory (athlete) and Khundongbam Dhaneshor, a Class X student of Yaralpat (best in co-curricular activities/sports) .
The award carried a cash prize of Rs 30,000, along with a memento and a certificate.
Prof RK Hemakumar Singh, Vice Chancellor(i/c), Manipur University and Dr RK Nimai Singh, Chairman, Selection Board of the Awards also attended the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, the Governor congratulated all the awardees for their outstanding achievements, dedication and hard work.
He said that awards not only recognise achievement but also encourage others to strive for excellence.
Bhalla recalled that the Governor's Award, instituted in 1998, recognises excellence in academics and co-curricular activities among students of Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya.
He also noted that the Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Awards, instituted in 1983, recognise excellence in teaching, teacher education, nursing, sports, social work, differently abled category and co-curricular activities.
