Imphal, May 15 2024:
Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan has exuded confidence that the Government will take up legal action against those who vandalised a car parked inside the complex of a relief camp set up at Thangmeiband Khuyathong Tombisana High School on May 8 and intimidated the inmates.
Addressing a press briefing at his residence near Khuyathong Pukhri Achouba, the MLA continued that the relief camp is run by TAKDO.
Saying that the incident took place while a water tanker of PHED was coming to supply water at the relief camp, he added that the water tanker could not get inside the relief camp as three cars were parked in front of the gate of the relief camp.
Some miscreants however gave misleading comments to cover up the true cause behind the incident and the same is unfortunate, he added.
Saying that TAKDO volunteers could not find the owners of the three cars, Jokisan continued that the water tanker went back without unloading the water.
The same three cars were found parked when the water tanker returned in the evening of the same day again, he said and added that the TAKDO volunteers deflated the tyres of the three cars as no owners came out for the cars.
Saying that one owner of the cars came to the relief camp at around 8.30 pm and created a scene for deflating his car tyres, the MLA said that the inmates of the relief camp came out and asked the person to stop what he was doing.
The MLA said that he went to the relief camp soon after he heard about the incident along with some TAKDO volunteers.
Saying that TAKDO volunteers slapped the owner of the cars once or twice and the matter was resolved, Joykisan added that the person came back with some more people and started beating the TAKDO volunteers when they were at the relief camp.
The group also vandalised one Maruti 800 car parked inside the relief camp campus, he said and added that 15 children fell unconscious after seeing the incident and they were taken to RIMS.
Saying that he instructed his escort to fire some rounds to control the situation, the MLA added that he had informed the Chief Minister and Imphal West SP about the firing.
The situation was controlled after police came, he added.
Saying that the incident has made the inmates at the relief camp restless, Joykisan continued that he has lodged a complaint to Imphal West police to take action against those who intimidated the inmates of the relief camp.
The Chief Minister has also assured to take actions against those who created the scene, he added.
About the recent incident at Thangal Keithel where some minority people were assaulted, he said that he takes the matter very seriously and it would be very wrong to encourage them.
If needed, the BJP Thangmeiband Mandal and the Bazar Community will start safeguarding the minority people, he said and asked the people not to panic.
