A combined forces of four battalions of the BSF conducted a search operation in and around Pumlenpat under Waikhong police station this morning.
Meanwhile, BSF has claimed that UG hideouts located in Loktak lake have been cleared off.
Acting on a specific information, the combined force led by 193 Bn BSF surrounded Pumlenpat since 3 am and conducted search operations till 11:30 am using canoes.
However, there is no report of any arrest during the operation.
One BSF officer talking to media persons at the operation area said that the operation was conducted after surrounding 12 square kilometres of Pumlenpat by more than 1000 BSF soldiers.
Local boats were used in the operation which was aimed at strengthening civil administration, he said.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by BSF authority informed that the operation was launched following specific tip off that UG cadres were taking shelter at Chingjao, Arong and Nongmaikhong.
It also claimed that all UG hideouts located in Loktak lake have been cleared off.
