CCpur, April 14 2021:
The turnout of people within the age bracket eligible to receive Covid vaccination in Churachandpur during the special vaccination drive- Tikka Utsav, is witnessing a rising trend every passing day even as positive cases too have been surging after a lull for some months.
On Monday the first working day after the drive was launched, the District Immunisation Center saw 95 people turning out for the first dose.
The following day the turnout rose to 135 .
Today it clocked 235.While these figures do not include six other session sites, a daily cumulative figure release by the district health authorities indicates that the Covid jab administered till today registered over 900 against their target of 700 .
Significantly positive cases in the district too soared during this campaign as the district recorded 4 new cases on the day the special campaign was launched.
It however failed to show a diminishing trend and today it registered 7 new cases, a record surge in months to take the total active cases to 26 in the district in the last few days.
The district last saw zero case on April 2 .
It then saw single case for about a week until April 11 .
If today's trend continues to fill the daily Covid table, the district too may be headed for the dreaded second wave.
The silver lining so far lies in the fact that only a few of the new cases are categorised to be local as it was largely from returnees.
It may be recalled that CMO Dr VC Pau along with Additional DC S Khaikhopau Ngaihte have separately called on the public within the age bracket of 45 to get themselves vaccinated.
Their calls seem to have resonated well as today's total jab administered across all session sites is said to be 539 .
