133rd Patriots' Day observed across many districts

In remembrance of the fallen heroes of Manipur who laid down their lives in the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, the 133rd Patriots' Day was observed across the State today.
On the occasion, floral tributes were offered on the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General and other martyrs at a majority of the events.
BISHNUPUR
District Administration Bishnupur observed Patriots' Day at the Conference Hall of the DC Office, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
Deputy Commissioner Lourembam Bikram led the gathering in a wreath-laying ceremony and paid floral tributes on the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General joined by ADM Bishnupur H Bobby Sharma, SDOs, and DLOs.
As a part of Patriots' Day ceremony, "Prabhat Pheri" was carried out in Nambol, Bishnupur and Moirang sub divisions.
Later, Har Ghar Tiranga signature campaign was also held at the Mini Secretariat Complex.
Meanwhile, internally displaced people at Kwakta Sericulture Farm observed the 133rd Patriots' Day organised by Meitei Society Churachandpur, Ima Leimarel Churachandpur and Relief Camp Committee.
On the occasion, a team of CCSK led by Jitendra Ningomba distributed toys to the displaced children.
NPP Moirang Block also observed the day at the MLA's Office located at Moirang Philem Leikai.
Moirang AC MLA Th Shanti; Ph Magha, president NPP Moirang Block and S Kumar, chairman, NPP Moirang Block attended the event.
CHANDEL
District Administration Chandel also observed the day at the Multipurpose Hall of DC Chandel Office Complex.
8th Manipur Rifles performed gun salutes to honour the fallen heroes.
The event was attended by Chandel DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar; Shivanand Surve, SP Chandel; Salam Somorjit, CO, 8th Manipur Rifles; Md Firoz, ADC Chandel; Chamna Anal, Addl SP (L&O) Chandel; Sangkerjit, Addl SP (Ops), SDOs, DLOs and representatives of CSOs and churches.
Separately, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of United College observed Patriots' Day at the Seminar Hall of the college at 10 am.
Cultural dance performances, quiz competition, dance competition and speeches honouring the martyrs of Anglo Manipuri War were the highlights of the event.
KAKCHING
The District Administration Kakching observed the 133rd Patriots' Day at the DC Office Complex, Kakching.
Deputy Commissioner, Kakching Rohit Anand alongside Moirangthem Kapajit Singh, ADM Kakching and other District Level Officers paid floral tributes on the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General.
As part of the observance, a social service was carried out within the premises of the DC Office Complex, Kakching, followed by a tree plantation drive.
Apart from this, a full dress rehearsal for the 78th Independence Day, 2024 was conducted at the premises of the DC Office Complex, Kakching.
Similarly, NSS Unit 1 and Unit 2 of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kha Manipur College organised the observance of Patriots' Day at the Multipurpose Community Hall of the college.
Additionally, Block Congress Committee (BCC) Kakching observed Patriots' Day in collaboration with District Congress Committee, Kakching at BCC Office under the supervision of MPCC.
Meanwhile, Liberty Theatre Kakching conducted a poem competition on the occasion at Library and Information Centre, Kakching.
This was accompanied with the showcase of a play based on Bir Tikendrajit.
Ideal Youths' Association, Kakching Wairi observed the day at Kakching Wairi Kongoi Community Hall with the offering of floral tribute, patriotic poem competition and prize distribution to meritorious students.
KAMJONG
Following suit, District Administration Kamjong also observed the 133rd Patriots' Day at the Camp Office of DC Kamjong.
DC Kamjong Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS, led the lighting of candles and offering of floral tributes paying homage to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General.
A one-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the brave martyrs.
SENAPATI
In remembrance of Bir Tikendrajit Singh and Thangal General and their bravery and love for the motherland, Senapati District Administration observed Patriots' Day today at DRDA Conference Hall, Senapati.
Nimmi Azingwungshi Khamrang, MCS, ADM, Senapati; Luguiba Thangal, MCS, SDO Senapati (HQ); Deputy Commissioner Senapati Mamoni Doley, IAS, and Superintendent of Police, Senapati Anupam, IPS were present at the event.
TENGNOUPAL
A team led by Moreh Police Station OC Salauddin conducted a cleanliness drive at Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate 2, in front of Moreh Police Station and the road leading to Moreh Hospital in observance of Patriots' Day.
THOUBAL
District Administration, Thoubal observed the 133rd Patriots' Day at the Counting Hall of DC Complex, Thoubal.
The function was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal A Subhash Singh, IAS; ADM Thoubal B Lokeshor Sharma, 3rd IRB CO, SDOs, SDCs, DLOs and staff of DC Office Thoubal.
Earlier 'Prabhat Pheri' was carried out commencing from DC Office complex at 4 am.
Later, Har Ghar Tiranga signature campaign was also held at the DC Office Complex, Thoubal.
Additionally, the day was observed at Wisdom Foundation, Khangabok and Sofia School, Thoubal Wangmataba.
Ningol Club recalled the bravehearts at Heirok Part II Bazar while Tekcham Sports and Cultural Organisation (TSCO) observed Patriots' Day at Tekcham Ekop Ningthou Laibung accompanied by felicitation of meritorious students.
Meanwhile, Ningombam Ideal Youth Club, Ningombam Thoubal organised a State level patriotic song competition at Thoubal Ningthou Lainingthou Lairembi in observance of the day and prizes were distributed to the winners.
Notable dignitaries present at the event include K Ranjit Singh, MLA, Sugnu AC and Sutjakumar Okram, MLA, Khangabok AC.
Under the supervision of Thoubal DC A Subhash, the District Police HQ Thoubal, District Health Society Thoubal, Lions Club Thoubal Greater Centurion and Association For Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur, Thoubal District Branch conducted a blood donation camp at Blood Center & Transfusion Unit, District Hospital, Thoubal.
Late Alhaji Md Alimuddin Former Chief Minister Memorial Public Charitable Trust organised a Patriots' Day observance at the residence of former CM Md Alimuddin.
Notable dignitaries include retd AO Alhaj Md Nijamuddin, former MLA RK Anand and former Minister O Joy.
Similarly, ATDUCO remembered the brave sons of Manipur at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex today while Taru-Khongnang Youth Organisation (THYO) observed the day at Thoubal Kshetrileikai.
OTHERS
In Tripura, the Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura in association with Takhel Leima Tengbang Lup observed the day at Tarou Meitei Leikai.
Similarly, the 133rd Patriots' Day was also observed at Khowai Gournagar and Baidyardighi under Bishalgarh subdivision organised by Takhel Yaol Lup.
Meanwhile, in Assam, the Assam University Manipuri Students Union inaugurated a statue of Bir Tikendrajit in front of the Manipuri Department of Assam University to mark the historic observance of 133rd Patriots' Day.
Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Golaghat District, All Assam Manipuri Students Association Golaghat and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Assam also organised Patriots' Day ceremony at Lakhinagar today.
