NEC details fund release to state

Imphal, June 13 2025:
The North Eastern Council (NEC) released a total of Rs 6,19,49,507 during the month of May, 2025 for Manipur for taking up nine projects in different parts of the state.
The projects include construction of Multi-Facility Centre at IGNTU-RCM, Kangpokpi at an estimated cost of Rs 82,34,979 and construction of Mini stadium at Luangrang (Nungang) in Noney district pegged to cost Rs 2 crore.
Of the total fund, Rs 1,35,69,278 will be utilised for construction of Multi utility building for Thangal tribe at Senapati town, construction of 25-bedded residential hostel for girls at Makeng Chejinba village, Senapati and construction of common community pond at Angkailongi village, Senapati district.
According to a statement of NEC, Rs 37,50,000 of the released fund will be utilised for integrated farming system model demonstration for sustained economic and livelihood, Rs 62,61,500 for backward community (Zeme) of Tousem subdivision of Tamenglong district, Rs 8 lakh for 7 days livelihood skill development technology intervention training programme cum workshop & exhibition on Kouna craft (water reed) at Khangabok, Thoubal district and Rs 59,73,750 as provision for furniture and fixture for construction of SC/ST boys and girls hostels in respect of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Imphal.
The remaining fund amounting Rs 26,40,000 and Rs 7,20,000 will be utilised for tissue culture facility for production of disease free planting material of citrus and training programme on cane and bamboo products for Churachandpur respectively.
The NEC statement further said that the funds were released to support wide range sectors including tourism, industry, agriculture, transport and communication, science & technology, human resource development, irrigation, flood control and water management and promotion of culture and heritage among others.
While asserting that the NEC remains firmly committed for the timely disbursement of funds to ensure smooth and prompt implementation and completion of development projects in the North Eastern Region, the statement also announced the release of NEC Year Book 2025, a comprehensive compilation that underscores council's steadfast commitment to the development of the NER .
