Imphal, March 13: Strongly reacting to the decision of the AICC to name Rishang Keishing as the Congress candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat, the All Manipur MP Demand Committee, which has been demanding that the seat should go to a minority candidate has decided to boycott the Congress party in all future elections if the Congress leaders do not review its decision and nominate someone from the minority community.

A statement issued by the Committee today said that the Muslims have been supporting the Congress in all elections in Manipur and it is with this support the party has been able to come to power.

All the Muslim of Manipur have been assured by the leaders of the MPCC that a minority Muslim would be nominated to the Rajya Sabha claimed the statement and added that naming Rishang Keishing for the Rajya Sabha seat this time tantamounts to betraying the Muslim community.
