Arms recovered

Imphal, April 11 2025:
A number of arms and ammunition were recovered by a combined team of State and Central security forces from the fringe areas of Saiton and Haiyaikon, Bishnupur district under Phougakchao Ikhai police station today.
Acting on specific input about the presence of a cache of arms and ammunition in the fringe areas of Saiton and Haiyaikon, a combined force comprising Phougakchao Ikhai police station, Bishnupur district commando, a column of 19 Garhwal Rifle and 71 Battalion CRPF rushed to the spot and conducted a massive search operation using metal detectors and sniffer dogs.
In the course of the search operation, the sniffer dog signalled the presence of an IED inside a bamboo thicket.
Upon inspection, the security forces recovered arms and ammunition including explosives buried underground.
The recovered items included two .303 bolt action rifles with one magazine and seven live rounds, one 12 bore double barrel gun, one INSAS rifle with magazine, one AK rifle with magazine, one Baofeng walkie talkie set, five flare gun ammunition, one IED weighing 890 grams, five live ammunition of 5.56 mm, five live ammunition of .303 rifle, five bullet proof jackets and five headgears, said sources.
The recovered items were seized from the spot by observing necessary formalities and handed over to Phougakchao Ikhai police station, said the sources.
