Alert protests continue at Bpr, Jiri and Tbl

Bpr/Jiri/Tbl, November 10 2019: In support of the ongoing COCOMI's demand for the disclosure of the peace talk agreement between India Govt and NSCN (IM) and the Naga accord cannot have any impact on the interest of Manipur, series of public alert meetings, protests and rally were held in different parts of Bishnupur District today including the formation of human chain to vent out their dissent.

Led by Joint Committee On Manipur Integrity Moirang Sub-Division, an apex body formed by various clubs, organizations, meira paibi lup, nupi lup in association with KEMKAL and MAMPIL, women folks, meira paibi, club members of Moirang Kumam Leikai staged public alert meeting and later took their protest to street and formed human chain raising various slogans.

Women folks, shopkeepers of Moirang Mairembam Leikai also staged alert protest near Sendra road by blocking the road halfway and formed human chain.

Public alert protests were also held at Sendra road Kangjeibung, Sendra Chingkhong, Ithing etc.

In the protests, various banners and placards which read as "We Strongly Oppose India's Divisive Policy", "Bring Solution Not Problem", "No solution in favour of one community at the expense of other community", "No Compromise on Territorial Integrity of Manipur", "Bring Peace Not Pieces", were used by the protestors.

The protestors also raised slogans such as "Long Live Manipur", "Mother Manipur is the best", "Territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised during the protest demonstration.

On the other hand, in support of COCOMI agitation, Ningthoukhong Keithel Phambi Ima Lup, Apunba Nupi Lup (Anul) Bishnupur, Bishnupur Block Congress Committee, Bishnupur Block Mahila Congress Bishnupur and Bishnupur Assembly Youth Congress Committee jointly organized public alert protest at Ningthoukhong market.

MLA Govindas Konghoujam personally joined the protest demonstration and raised various slogans along with the protestors at Tiddim road.

Co-ordinator COCOMI, Sunil Karam too joined the protest and called for the collective effort to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur.

Speaking on the sideline of the protest, president Ningthoukhong Keithel Fambi Ema Lup, Nungsi said that time has come to fight for a common cause by shedding off all political differences and narrow personal ambition.

On the other hand, a rally was jointly organized by pasenger service providers of Potshangbam, Nachou, Kwasiphai, Khoijuman, Toubul, Ngaikhong Khullen & Ngakchroupokpi IVR Auto & Tata Magic Association and Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL) Bishnupur during which many Auto and Tata Magic of the association have lined up for the rally.

The rally commenced from Potshangbam and stopped in front of the residence of MLA Govindas at Ningthoukhong and raised many slogans and then headed towards the residence of MLA Oinam AC L Radhakishore and raised slogans.

The rally then culminated at Bishnupur.

Public of Phoijing Awang, Phoijing Teramakhong, Phoijing Tongba, Phoijing Chingning, Thangtek, Hidaksungpham, Khabi and Awang Jiri also staged alert protest at Nambol Phoijing market and raised slogans.

Jiribam: All the male and female writers from Jiribam staged alert meeting in support of COCOMI's demand that the Indo Naga peace talks cannot compromise the territorial integrity of Manipur at the front gate of Congress Bhawan, Babupara Jiribam today.

Speaking on the sideline of the protest, Kakrabam Babaton expressed apprehension on the secretive manner the peace agreement between NSCN-IM and GoI was kept from public knowledge while adding that people of Manipur want territorial integrity of Manipur intact and all the people of Manipur be it from hill or valley are governed under on administration.

One of the protestors, M Gopal Singh questioned GoI the reason for keeping the peace agreement concealed even though the Govt clarifies that the agreement have no impact on the interest of Manipur.

Writer Hijam Nandeshori Devi urged the Govt not to work against the wish of the people of Manipur and demand for the disclosure of the content of the peace agreement.

Placards which read as "We oppose divisive policy of GoI", "Don't break Manipur", "Bring peace not pieces", "Bring solution not problems" etc, were used during the protest.

Thoubal: Tulihal Idgag Youth Development Organization, Sacrifice Youth Development Organization, Konjil Youth Development Organization, Tulihal Mayai Leikai Welfare Association, DM DOT and Youth Care Tabokpi Club jointly organized torch rally in support of COCOMI's ongoing agitation for the protection of territorial integrity of Manipur and the peace agreement between NSCN (IM) and GoI cannot compromise the interest of Manipur.

More than 1,000 people from Tulihal took part in the rally raising slogans such as ''Long Live Manipur'', ''Territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised'', ''The peace agreement between NSCN (IM) and India Govt cannot have any impact on the interest of Manipur'' from Tulihal Tabokpi Dam and passed through Yairipok Santa bazar, Thambalnu market and culminated at Tulihal Mayai Leikai ground.

Meanwhile, students of The New Model English School Thoubal Moijing took their protest to street and blocked the road halfway by forming human chain raising slogans such as "Long Live Manipur", "Territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised", "We strongly condemn greater Nagaland", "Naga peace accord cannot have any impact on the interest of Manipur", "Students will erupt in violence for the protection of Manipur" .
