Imphal, May 10 2026:
Members of Citizens Club Soibam Leikai visited Ukhrul victims of Kuki militants' attacks undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital today.
The members of the clubs led by its president Mahendra Naorem also visited people undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity and JNIMS Hospital, and extended assistance.
During the visit at RIMS, Mahendra said in absence of public trust in the Central security forces, the Government should deploy State forces in all vulnerable areas to protect indigenous Meiteis and Nagas from Kuki militants' attack.
The indigenous Meitei community were first attacked on May 3, 2023.While this conflict is ongoing, the Kuki militants have now started attacking indigenous Tangkhul Nagas in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, killing and hurting many civilians, Mahendra said.
Expressing solidarity with the Tangkhul Naga victims, Mahendra said the people condemn the May 7 attack at Wanglee, Namlee and Choro villages in Kamjong district by KNA-B and PDF terrorists in the strongest terms.
He condemned the Assam Rifles for not "preventing" the attack, and denounced the Government for remaining silent.
To curb violence, bring peace and facilitate return and commute of indigenous peoples to Moreh, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul and Kamjong district, the Government must deploy and station State security forces in the regions, he added.
