Imphal, August 07 2025:
Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sakhu has stated that 21 water body rejuvenation projects worth Rs 4.28 crore have been taken up in Manipur under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 so far.
He was responding to an unstarred question raised by Inner Manipur MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam on the floor of Parliament.
The MoS continued that water is a State subject and management of water is the responsibility of the State Government and Urban Local Bodies.
Saying that the Government of India supplements the efforts of the States to manage water through schematic intervention such as AMRUT, he added that States/Union Territories are empowered to select, appraise, prioritise and implement the projects within the broad framework of mission guidelines.
He also said that funds under AMRUT/AMRUT 2.0 are allocated to the States/ UTs and not project-wise.
