Imphal, July 07 2024:
Stating that the security measures being taken up in highly volatile Jiribam district is not satisfying, the Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee for Peace (KIKJCCP) has urged the Government to send additional State force to the border district within 15 days and drive out the Kuki narco-terrorists.
Briefing the media about the recent visit of mothers of Khwairamband Keithel to Jiribam, convenor of KIKJCCP Laishram Memma said that the report of deployment of non-existent police personnel in Jiribam is embarrassing and asked whether the Chief Minister was aware of it.
Saying that they are displeased at how the Centre and the State Government have been responding to the crisis in Manipur, Meema maintained that the security measures being taken up in Jiribam are adequate.
On healthcare, Memma stated that there is not even a person to render ambulance service at Jiribam District Hospital.
Continuing that people of Jiribam feel alienated from the rest of Manipur as they don't get much help from the Government, she urged the Government to do the needful.
She went on to state that they have submitted a memorandum to the Health Minister and DGP to address the grievances of the people of Jiribam.
In the memorandum, the Committee urged the Government to send additional State forces in Jiribam to stop the hostility of Kuki militants and to look after the shortage of manpower and infrastructure at Jiribam District Hospital, Memma said.
Meanwhile, Memma said that both the ruling and Opposition parties should work together to resolve the crisis in Manipur irrespective of their political differences.
She also appealed to the BJP to stop ridiculing the speech given by Inner Manipur MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam on the floor of Parliament recently.
It was the speech of Dr Bimol which broke the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Manipur issue, she said and added the BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur, on the other hand, has not uttered a single word.
