Moreh, May 06:
A protest dharna was staged today by Moreh College Students' Union, teaching and non-teaching staff and members of the governing body of Moreh College against the attempt to abduct the Principal of the college, Lungjapao Vaiphei by unidentified persons today at the college campus.
Besides strongly condemning the abduction attempt, the protestors demanded to know the reasons for such as an act as well as the fault, if any, of the Principal.
The students and others made it clear that the present Principal has been tirelessly serving at the only provate college in Moreh for the last 10 years and urged all not to do anything that may disrupt the smooth functioning of the educational institution.
Significantly this is not the first time that attempt was made to abduct the Principal.
On March 17 unidentified persons waylaid and tried to abduct the Principal on the Moreh Pallel road while on March 27 some unidentified persons came to his house and inquired about his whereabouts.
Such instances had affected the administration of the college.
Drawing the attention of the Government the protestors said that it must do something concrete so that the culprits can be reined in.
If the Government remains indifferent to the appeal to look into the matter, then the students, staff and members of the governing body will launch a series of agitation they warned.
During the dharna the protestors held placards which read, "We appeal to the State Government to solve the problem," "Our Principal is innocent,".
