Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Wednesday, reviewed the functioning of Churachandpur district administration through a video conference from Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal.
The Minister assessed the overall progress of the district, with a particular focus on the condition of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in relief camps and the implementation status of Central and State sponsored schemes.
He also reviewed key sectors such as health, education, power, agriculture, transport, handloom and handicrafts, and enquired about the public's issues and concerns on Government services.
Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Dharun Kumar S briefed the Minister on the district's ongoing projects and programmes.
He informed that IDPs have been provided necessary facilities and that efforts are being made to support their rehabilitation and livelihood.
Highlighting the education scenario, the Deputy Commissioner said that with the presence of PM SHRI Schools, State Government institution, Central institutions like Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya, as well as several private schools, the district is performing well in higher secondary education.
Due to steps taken by the administration, the number of school dropouts has declined in recent years, he said.
In the health sector, Dharun Kumar said Churachandpur district has a medical college and is one of the best functioning districts in the health care sector amid challenges in super specialty & tertiary care.
Assuring continued cooperation from the Centre, Bandi Sanjay Kumar urged the district administration to give renewed emphasis to agriculture and allied activities such as horticulture and animal husbandry to create sustainable income sources and strengthen the district's self-reliance.
