Lok Sabha MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam has emphasized the need for a long-term vision to tackle Manipur's chronic issues, citing the devastating floods in the State as a prime example.
In a message, the MP said that the floods in Manipur are a predictable event highlighting the importance of preparedness.
Acknowledging the efforts of people in providing rescue and relief to flood victims, Bimol added that he too as a people's representative and a humble individual has been doing his part to assist those affected.
Emphasising the need for a long-term vision to prevent future floods, rather than relying on temporary solutions, he urged all Manipuris to work towards building a new Manipur founded on forward-thinking and foresight.
The MP, meanwhile, said that the Lok Sabha election results announced on June 4, 2024, demonstrated the people's ability to choose their representatives using their rights and power, unflinched by inducements or pressure.
He stated that June 4, 2024, marked the day people experienced the essence of democracy, and gave him the opportunity to serve the people as their representative.
Stating that the trust placed in him by the people is his greatest strength, he added that working for the people both within and outside Parliament, in line with their aspirations, is not just his duty but a sacred responsibility, It is inherent for every individual to have both strengths and weaknesses, as well as good and bad aspects, he said and added the real strength of one's character is reflected in their ability to uphold truth.
