Imphal, November 04: AICC North East in charge, Ramesh Channithala today stated that there is no question of removing the Chief Minister from his post despite the brewing discontentment within the Congress Legislature Party.

Talking to media-persons today, Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Channithala while admitting that there have been some internal differences among the party MLAs said that the question of changing the party's leader would not be considered for the time being.

Stating that all the party's MLAs are presently working in unity without any problem under the leadership of Chief Minister O Ibobi, Ramesh said that there won't be any problem in ironing out the differences and misunderstandings which have crept up among the party members.

He also appealed to all the party MLAs and functionaries to extend full cooperation in running the administration of the State as well as strengthening the Congress party.

He also informed that this was his first visit to Manipur after becoming the AICC North East In charge.

Mention may be made here that Ramesh had attended the CLP meeting immediately after his arrival at Imphal yesterday afternoon.

Elaborating on the reasons behind his visit to the State, Ramesh said that he has come to see the preparations taken up for the State PCC election which has been scheduled on April 30, 2005 besides conducting drive for increasing the membership of the Congress party.

He also said that political campaigns as well as membership drive would begin from this month.

UPA Govt is doing everything within its means to solve the State's problem and help usher in peace and development in the State, said Ramesh adding that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be visiting Manipur in Nov to have a first hand account of the problems faced by the people of Manipur.

Chief Minister O Ibobi and Works Minister Th Devendra also attended the press conference.

Earlier in the day, Ra-mesh attended the executive meeting of PCC at the Congress Bhavan.

Speaking at the meeting, Ramesh said that there is no question of removing the party president or the office bearers of the organization until and unless a new president and office bearers are elected.

He also lauded the Chief Minister for handling the recent agitation against the AFSA in a very skilful manner without major loss of innocent lives and properties.

Members present at the meeting also resolved to support and extend all possible cooperation to the leadership of Chief Minister O Ibobi considering the contribution he has made for the State in general and Congress party in particular.
