Senapati, September 03 2024:
The Naga People's Organization (NPO) has cautioned against intrusion into Naga areas.
The NPO came out with this statement after the Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) forcibly took their peace rally to Naga areas on August 31 .
Saying that the patience of the Nagas is finally exhausted, the NPO asserted that the KSO Sadar Hills, by daring to bring their protest rally to Naga areas, has crossed all limits which they termed as openly provoking the Nagas for a direct confrontation.
The repeated calls by the Nagas not to take their agitation to Naga areas were completely disregarded, deliberately ignored and treated with absolute disdain, it alleged.
The incident of August 31 in Naga areas of Kangpokpi was clearly a case of direct intrusion into Naga areas and open provocation for another confrontation with the Nagas, the release mentioned.
Such blatant disregard towards the Naga community, manifested clearly in the August 31 incident, indicated that the Kukis don't believe in peaceful co-existence with their neighbours, it said.
The peace loving character of the Nagas must not be taken for granted or viewed as weakness, the NPO warned.
Manhandling and intimidation of Naga student leaders by the participants of the rally is unacceptable and calls for condemnation in the strongest terms, the NPO said.
