Imphal, June 03 2024: An enquiry committee has been constituted to ascertain the facts and circumstances leading to widespread floods in Imphal valley in the aftermath of Depression (remnant of cyclonic storm Remal) and to recommend measures to prevent and effectively tackle similar natural calamities in future.

Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi issued an order to this effect today, and said that the committee would be headed by Special Chief Secretary (Relief & Disaster Management) as the chairperson.

While Director (Relief & Disaster Management) is the member secretary, the other members of the committee are PWD Chief Engineer, Water Resources Chief Engineer, MAHUD Director, Imphal East Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West Deputy Commissioner, LDA Project Director and Environment & Climate Change Director.

According to the order, the committee should submit its report to the State Government by June 13 .
