More arms surrendered

Imphal, March 02 2025: Heeding the Governor's call to surrender arms, 42 more weapons of different types and ammunition have been returned by the public to police.

Yesterday, security forces also dismantled two illegal bunkers at Mark Hill under Thingsat Hill range, Kangpokpi district and another three at Wakan hill range in the adjoining area of Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts.

The 42 arms, ammunition and various other articles were surrendered in Imphal West, Imphal East, Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Tamenglong districts yesterday, said the State Police Control Room.

The surrendered arms and ammunition at Lamsang police station, Imphal West included one .303 Rifle, one SLR Rifle, five 7.62 mm live rounds, eight Tear Smoke shells, three Stun shells, one Patka, one BP Helmet, four BP cover, six BP plates, one 303 Rifle Magazine, one SLR Rifle Magazine and one Carbine Magazine.

The surrendered weapons at Churachandpur police station, Churachandpur included one .303 Rifle with one empty magazine, one 7.62 mm Ghatak Rifle with three 7.62mm live rounds and one Magazine, one 12 Bore Rifle, one Single Barrel Rifle, one Pompi, two IED (Approx 2.5 Kg), one BP Helmet, one BP jacket with plate, one Baofeng Radio set, one 36 HE Grenade with detonator, one Tear Gas Grenade and two Jungle shoes.

The surrendered weapons at CDO Imphal East included one 9 mm pistol with magazine, two INSAS Rifle Magazine, six INSAS Rifle live ammunition, one Lathode Shell, three 36 Hand Grenades, four WP Green 80 MK1 Grenade and one Radio Wireless Set (KENWOOD) .

The surrendered weapons at Yaingangpokpi police station, Imphal East included one 36 Hand Grenade, one country made AK Rifle without Magazine, one Baofeng walkie talkie, one BP Jacket without BP plate, one Unistar black jungle boots, fifteen .22 Colt Mars ball rounds, one Mortar bomb 81 mm, one Single Barrel Breech Loader), seven 12 bore Cartridges and one army synthetic ammunition pouch.

Surrendered weapons at Porompat police station, Imphal East included one Single Barrel gun and two Hand Grenades.

Surrendered weapons at Kaimai police station, Tamenglong included seventeen local made SBBL guns, fifty two SBBL ammunition, nine Pompi guns, ten walkie talkie sets, six charger sets, thirty five pompi rounds, five .315 rounds, seventeen local-made Hand Grenades and one 12 Bore ammunition belts.

The surrendered weapons at CDO Bishnupur, Bishnupur district included one 303 Rifle, one DBBL, one SBBL, six 36 HE Grenades, six BP Helmets, one .32 Pistol (country-made), one .32 Pistol Magazine, two camouflage Pants, nineteen BP Jackets, two camouflage shirts, two camouflage T-shirts, nine BP Plates, one camouflage P-Cap, one Baofeng W/T Set, four 12 Bore Cartridges, fifty four .303 ammunition, eleven SLR ammunition, ten 5.56 amogh live ammunition, nine Detonators, three WP Smoke Grenades, two INSAS LMG Magazines, one INSAS Rifle Magazine, three Signal Cartridges, seven Blcart strip, ten .303 mm blank Cartridges, two 26 wood piercing shells, five 27.303 ammunition charger and thirteen 28.7.62 mm ammunition charger.

Security forces also recovered arms and ammunition in search operations carried out from Sairemkhul area under Lamshang PS, Imphal West.

The items recovered included one 5.56 mm INSAS LMG with one Magazine loaded with twenty rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, one AK-56 Rifle, one SLR Rifle with one Magazine loaded with twelve rounds, one SLR Rifle with one Magazine loaded with ten rounds, one SLR Rifle with one Magazine loaded with eight rounds, one SMG 9 mm CARBINE 1A1 with one Magazine loaded with eight rounds, one .303 Rifle with one Magazine loaded with five rounds, one DBBL Gun of Standard Gun Works, four HE 36 Hand Grenades without detonator along with four arming rings, one Chinese Hand Grenade, two camouflage helmets, three BP vests, four BP Plates, one camouflage magazine pouch and one Khukri (knife) .
