Imphal, June 01:
After over two years of investigation and quizing of victims, the Rajkhowa Commission that had been probing into the alleged mass rape of Hmar women at Lungthulien and Parbung of Churachandpur district submitted its report to the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh yesterday.
The probe was ordered following outcries from Hmar civil society organisations and other NGOs after cadres of two underground outfits alleged outraged modesty of 21 Hmar women in January 2006 .
According to informed source, the probe panel headed by Justice (retd) SP Rajkhowa handed over the report under seal cover to the CM last evening.
It may be noted that in April 2006 most the victims had confided to commission members regarding their ordeal when the panel examined them at Lungthulien and Parbung.
The Commission had rejected a petition by an Imphal based human rights group for examination of the said victims through the International Red Cross Society.
