Security measures beefed up ahead of Kut fest

Security arrangements for the Kut festival scheduled tomorrow at 1st MR complex has been tightened in view of the series of bomb blasts that rocked the State capital recently, informed DGP P Doungel who is also secretary of the State level Kut committee.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, P Doungel informed that extra security measures have been taken by Imphal West District Police, CID and 1st Bn Manipur Rifles specially for the Kut festival.
He appealed to all sections of people not to call any bandh in the coming days in view of Kut, Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba festivals but cooperate for peaceful celebration of Kut.
Media-in-charge of the State level Kut committee Chunglenmang explained that reporters detailed for covering Kut celebration would enter the main venue through VIP gate, general public through CID road and cultural troupes through Jail Road.
The event would be telecast live by ISTV at the local level and NE TV across India and 32 foreign countries.
It would also be beamed live by BSNL through the website www.statelevelkut.co.in.
The festival will be opened with Mizoram Governor Vakkom B Purosothaman as chief guest.
