Imphal, January 30 2025:
A five-year-old girl was injured after being hit by a bullet on her head in Chaktong, a border village located between Border Pillar 82 and 83 in Tengnoupal district.
The incident occurred around 1 pm Thursday during an armed skirmish across the border in Syajan and Waksu areas of Myanmar.
The victim has been identified as Airish, daughter of K Morung and Y Tothang of Chaktong village.
Local source said that the girl is out of danger.
The source also informed that several houses in the neighbouring N Satang village were also struck by multiple bullets around the same time.
Expressing serious concern over the matter, Rilram Area Maring Organisation (RAMO) wondered how bullets from across the border could reach the village.
The organisation has demanded accountability from Assam Rifles regarding the safety of civilians in the border region.
