AMMA felicitates achievers

Imphal, June 22 2025: All Manipur Music Association (AMMA) felicitated noted music director, columnist and lyricist Dr Yumnam Suren, cultural activist and lyricist Dr SK Apanba and Shija hospitals medical director Dr Sorokhaibam Jugindro Singh in a function held Sunday at Manipur Press Club.

Dr Yumnam Suren and Dr SK Apanba were felicitated on getting honorary doctorate degree recently while Dr S Jugindro became the first-ever medical professional of the state to become Sangeet Visharad degree holder.

Regarding the felicitation ceremony, AMMA general secretary Arambam Rabindra Singh said many individuals despite their scheduled professional commitments are making enormous efforts to contribute their mite for the society in the held of music.

AMMA felt the need for honouring Dr Yumnam Suren, Dr SK Apanba and Dr S Jugindro on their recent achievements and accordingly organised the felicitation ceremony, he reasoned, adding that Dr Jugindro underwent five year's Hindustani classical music course while serving people as a medical practitioner, which is a commendable feat as he is first medical practitioner of the state to hold such an esteem music degree.

The general secretary also disclosed that many doctors are learning Hindustani classical music.

The event was also attended by retired MU professor Dr RK Somorjit and AMMA president Thingom Mangi Singh.
