Imphal, July 19 2025:
Reiterating their long-standing demands including service regularisation within July 31, the All Manipur VDF (Village Defence Force) Employees' Welfare Association has warned of launching intense agitations including gun-down strike beginning from August 1.Announcing the association's decision during a press conference at Manipur Press Club Saturday, Association president Sanjit Sagolsem said that VDF personnel have been demanding implementation of Section 18 of Police Act, 1861, 'service regularisation and revision of pay-structure.
He stated that the association had called off its previous strike on 17 May 2025 after officials from the Home Department assured that they would address the demands within two months.
However, the authorities have not initiated any official steps or issued notifications since then.
"This has prompted the association to decide to resume the agitation from 1 August in case the government fails to take positive actions by 31 July," he said.
