Imphal, March 09 2025: Assam Rifles personnel carried out a rapid rescue operation after a truck lost control and plunged nearly 80 metres into the River Tuiyang near Kuljang village, Khengjoi Sub-Division, Chandel district, on March 8 .

The incident occurred around 9:30 am when the truck, while reversing, skidded into a deep gorge before crashing into the fiver.

The vehicle's cabin sustained significant damage, leaving the driver critically injured, while a woman suffered minor injuries.

Responding swiftly, Assam Rifles personnel, with assistance from local villagers, navigated the challenging terrain to reach the crash site.

The injured individuals received immediate first aid before being transported to Chakpikarong Public Health Centre for further medical treatment, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
