Unfortunately, 95 per cent of the HIV/AIDS afflicted individuals in Manipur are unaware of this Act, under which anyone found discriminating or violating the rights of HIV/AIDS afflicted individuals, could be jailed for up to a year and pay up to Rs 1 lakh as compensation, he informed.
The technical session of the workshop was moderated by JNIMS medical superintendent Dr Kh Lokeshwar, while MACS deputy director CST Division Dr Sanasam Jupiter, State ombudsman Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang and Manipur Human Rights Commission law officer Basanta Wareppa attended as resource persons.
