Imphal, June 02 2024:
The road stretch from Nagamapal Traffic Island to RIMS hospital, one of the important roads in Imphal area, is in such a deteriorating condition and full of potholes that even e-rickshaws can no longer operate on this road.
While the road stretch remains protractedly ignored, the recent works to lay pipes for the sewer project has further worsened the condition and inconvenienced the people.
After laying the pipes, the dug portions are not repaired properly or levelled with that of the protruding manholes, thereby leaving behind big potholes.
All light and heavy vehicles are facing risk plying along the said road, making the situation more difficult for ambulances or vehicles carrying patients.
Instead, they take the roundabout via Uripok.
People who travel along this route have to be extra careful while navigating the potholes and avoid any elderly pedestrians.
On top of this, many four wheelers and heavy vehicles are parked on both sides of the road, which is further hindering movement along the route.
As such, commuters have urged the government to repair the road at the earliest in the interest of the public.
